Again I’ve got a little secret – I was paid to do this trip too!!! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

And whilst I was in a Unimog, I figured I could handle the ‘hardship’ for a day…… lol<\/p>\n

So what was there to see? Well I’m glad you asked. Answer – bloody heaps. More than we fitted in during the day, that’s for sure. However I’m lucky to call this one of my backyards over the years, so I’ve been spoilt enough to have seen most of it over time. Still one can never get enough of a good thing.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately after 2013 Dunalley seems to be more known for the fire rather than anything else. And probably with good reason, considering the damage included 65 structures. However I know Dunalley for the fish – it seriously has some of the best seafood in the country. A close second would have to be the pub – apart from the fact it is now a known icon after the fires, it still serves up the most important thing – a cold beverage.<\/p>\n

Lastly is the Denison Canal. It was dug by hand (imagine that as your job!) between 1901 and 1905. It cuts a significant amount of travelling out by allowing easy access to the east coast. It is a great place to view the Sydney-Hobart yachts after the race as they return to Sydney. Originally it was a hand-operated swing bridge until 1965 when a larger electrically operated bridge was installed. Local stories still advise that the gatekeepers fee was a bottle of beer…..<\/p>\n

Little known fact – Dunalley was originally called ‘East Bay Neck’.<\/p>\n
