Jan 2023 – Taylors Arm

Snuck away for a few hours on Australia Day for lunch at The Pub With No Beer. The pub is located in Taylors Arm, inland from Macksville on the NSW mid-north coast. It is primarily known for Gordon Parsons / Slim Dusty and could be combined with a visit to the Slim Dusty Centre at Kemspey approximately an hour away (I’d split it over two days).

It took us approximately 1.5 hours to travel up from Port Macquarie, with the first hour being along a dual lane highway. There are many ways to travel and many detours you can take along the way that we have been lucky to traverse over the years.

We spent a lot of time inside of the pub looking at the myriad of memorabilia / displays. The drinks went down nicely, the food was bloody nice and the live music wasn’t too bad either. It was a really good way to wind down and relax.

Departing Taylors Arm we took the road out through Utungun back to Macksville. As always you find some “bits and pieces” when you take the lesser known routes.

A quick stop at Macksville to stretch the legs and then over to Scotts Head to enjoy the beach

The beach at Scotts Head is perfect for kids

A quiet drive home via Stuarts Point finished off a very enjoyable day.
