Mt Selwyn – June 10

Well the boy has had his first 4WD trip, and first time in the snow as well!

Weather report wasn’t exactly glowing, but be stuffed if I was going to sit in the house – it was time to get the family out for a run.

We headed off to Tumbarumba and actually didn’t get caught behind another car for nearly 100km’s.

Stopped in for a meat pie and to top up the gas tank.

The young fella was still travelling well so we pushed on towards Elliott Way. Turning onto the road it was a good run down to the dam. It was wet and foggy pretty much the whole way, and we noticed that there was a lot of oil on the road – especially on the tight corners heading down the hill.

From there we headed up to Cabramurra.

I think I’m the target

Landing on the airstrip may be fun!

We continued on to Mt Selwyn itself as the young fella had awoken and all he wanted was the boob – I kinda understand that actually!

Wet weather = empty carpark

I cooked up a lunch consisting of hamburgers, cheese and sauce between slices of bread – really wrong but reaaaaallllyyy yummy.

With the boy fed, the kids tired from a play we decided to slowly start heading towards home. Along the way we stopped into the Yarrangunbilly Caves area. I noticed that it said ‘fees apply for day use areas etc’ so I continued on pretty much straight away – I’ll leave that area for another weekend when I have more time.

Moving more towards home I stopped in at a favoured camping area near Talbingo. The snow melting over the last few days has resulted in a lot of the streams/rivers in the area are now flowing a lot quicker with more volume in them.

This is why I do it

All in all a good day – and it was bloody good to get away even for a short run
