Watagans State Forest – 12 Jun 04

The Watagans is another close trip from Sydney that can be a day trip or a weekender camping in one of the areas. Again it is better to unhook the camping trailer if you are taking on, and do trips solo. It is well known for it’s myriad of different tracks ranging from easy to quite hard.

The trip report below is of a recce that a few of us on the Overlander forum did before leading a full on trip the next month.

I met up with Norbert, Max and Syzygy, and proceeded to go into the forest. Generally the first part in the morning was very challenging for us stock vehicles, with having to get snatched out once. Continued on for lunch at Muirs Lookout.

Then went back down Watagan Forest Rd and did the power line track. After this Syzygy had to leave, so the three of us headed down toward the Pine camping area for a look.Anyone that says there’s nothing challenging in the Watagans is quite welcomne to come for a recce with me. I seemed to have a knack of finding tracks I couldn’t complete. Embarassed

Anyway, found some nice tracks for the medium group, nothing too challenging and enough to have some laughs and fill in the day.

Thanks for the day, and looking forward to the trip next month.
