Escape escape escape – the voices in my head kept telling me to run away. So I did what any self respecting person would – I listened!!!
We wanted to test our some changes we had done to our setup, and we had kept saying we’ve gotta get away. Fire season, COVID, Uni, life etc etc resulted in us never doing it.
Finally we said ‘stuff it’ and just went – hope you enjoy 🙂

A quick run down the highway after lunch ensued, turning onto The Lakes Way before then turning off at Tallwood Drive. Reminding myself to now start to relax, we explored around Khappinghat N.P, Hallidays Point, Red Head and Diamond Beach.
We continued through Forster and headed out to Cape Hawke.
A quick run down to the Ruins Campground, Booti Booti N.P for the night followed, as we were racing the sunset by this stage.
Day 2
Saturday came along and I had to make a decision what to do with a now useless Oztrail bag, which barely lasted 100kms. We managed to find another bag at Newcastle, but had to be down there by Midday. So a quick pack up and we were off, driving directly through.
We continued to loosely follow the coastline, with small diversions here and there.
Again we were exploring that much, and really enjoying ourselves, that time got away from us again. We headed to Patonga and set up camp quickly.

Day 3
The rain came, albeit expected, so a slightly more relaxed more followed.
After packing up, we slowly headed towards St Albans, where the plan was to catch up with family for lunch
Arriving at St Albans, we enjoyed exploring around the town. The lunch at the pub and a beverage was also appreciated
After lunch it was the haul back home, although we did take our time exploring the Great Northern Rd. With a little one sound asleep as we arrived at Wollombi, we decided we would come back another day to explore the town.
All up it was bloody good to get away, relax and enjoy ourselves. The gear we wanted to test (swag, awning etc) performed really well, and the RAV4 has been amazing.
