Abercrobie National Park – 02 Aug 04

On the 2nd of August Richard and I deicided to go through Abercrombie (40kms south of Oberon) on the way home from Canberra. Was a very enjoyable day (albeit leaving a bit late because of me!). The area is very dry we noticed, although there still is some water in areas. It is a very steep rocky hilly place, where you are either going up or down a hill or travelling on top of one. The areas where National parks say you can get a 2WD into, you can’t! Would like to see one try though!

Anyway, whilst at the other end of the park, it starts to rain. So we made a move on and I think we got out of the park just in time. Any later and we might have been winching on my tyres. Thanks to Richard for accompany me, as it’s always good to have a second vehicle around for safety. Will make a great area for our trip on the 4th of September. More the merrier for this area, and there is plenty of space to spread out for lunch.

Below are some photos from the day!

We had views like this all day, unitl it rained anyway!

I don’t like walking rivers at the best of times, it gets worse when your missus photographs you from the nice dry, warm car!

One of around 12 water crossings, but only 2 have water in them!

Driving along the river bed – that’s how dry it is!

Told you it rained on us!

Wish the poor buggers could get some more!

And just to prove – yes I do take the kids everywhere I go! And they love it!
