ANZAC Day – Winton, QLD

We had a choice of destinations for this years ANZAC Day commemorations and decided that Winton would be a good location – far enough away to be worth the trip. We departed the day before and arrived at approximately midday, where we consumed a bloody good meal for lunch at 1 of the 4 pubs.

An invitation was extended to visit the local centre, which we duly accepted. Glad we did go as there was a some bloody good stuff in there. We then proceeded to visit the other pubs in town for the rest of the evening.

ANZAC Day was cold and dreary, but it stayed fine for the service and march. I would have to say that it was one of the best organised services that I’ve attended, and I really did enjoy myself. The local RSL branch looked after us well (particularly the food) and the regular games went off without too much of a hitch.

Again the afternoon/evening was spent frequenting the local establishments which I am led to believe was quite successful.

The morning after feeling a tad sorry for ourselves we travelled back home, with plans already made with some of the boys to be back next year.

Pictures are below.

Cheers
Chris
