Apr 2022 – Tamworth Country Music Festival

We had originally planned to spend quite a few days at the 50th anniversary of the Tamworth Country Music Festival in January. Unfortunately it was postponed due to COVID and our plans went out the window. When the new dates were announced they clashed exactly with Loryn’s university intensives period at Armidale (just out luck).

However we decided to do a day trip with Ellie and I having some fun catching the XPT (train) early in the morning from Armidale to Tamworth, and Loryn travelled down in the car around lunch when her assessment finished.

Masks were still required on public transport

The train run was approximately 2-hours and wound its way through the hills out the back of Walcha. I’ve done it once and it was pleasant enough, but I think Ellie got way more enjoyment out of it than I did.

Upon arrival we basically went wandering around for a little while

And then Ellie found the park……

Loryn caught up with us and it was a combination of wandering around and Ellie finding “fun” things we “had to do”

We stopped for some dinner at Burger Urge, and it was bloody yummy. Had some great memorabilia as well.

We finished the day off at the Travis Collins concert in the park

Ellie crashed hard (had ear plugs in) – thankfully I parked the car fairly close. We jumped in the Jackaroo and spent an hour driving back to Armidale. Thank God for decent spotlights and a light bar.

Bring on next year 🙂
