Apr 2022 – Inverell

Ellie and I decided to “escape” for another day whilst Loryn was enjoying her university intensives period at Armidale. We made plans to catch up with some friends at Inverell and instead of the direct route we turned it into a loop.

We dropped Loryn off and headed west across to Bundarra before turning off to Copeton Dam. The dam is nearly 3 times the capacity of Sydney Harbour at 1,364,000 megalitres. The rock wall is nearly 1.5kms long and over 100 metres high. I think we might pull up stumps here for a night or two in the future.

We continued heading to Inverell stopping on the outskirts at the National Transport Museum. If you are ever in the area and have any interest, it is worth a stop (Ellie loved the electric train set and climbing the double decker bus)

We headed into town to have a play a park, wander along the river and grab something naughty (Maccas) for lunch

After lunch we headed into the Pioneer Village where we caught up with Aidan, Brittany and the kids

I should add some inspirational words here, but really ….. pictures are better 🙂

Eventually we had to bade goodbye and head back to Armidale. We headed out through Tingha out to Guyra, and of course as we went over Black Mountain it started raining.

Again a great day trip and I could have spent a lot more time in the area
